Overall using the fp has been a joy and like Sigmas other cameras it is somehow more than its specs alone. I've also used it for products and just every day photos. It again worked really well although a little unbalanced even with the large grip due to the large Sigma flash in the left side.Īs for other types of shooting, I've really enjoyed the fp for landscapes particularly with iso6 and 500seconds shutter without a release cable. I would normally do this anyway for events in darker places to allow the ambient light in and freeze action with the flash. Later that night I used it with rear curtain flash at 1/30s with12bit raw and a moderate iso. The fp with the 24-70 f2.8 dg dn on the other hand was totally silent (I disabled all noises) and just felt more responsive and I used it to cover the rest of the event. It was a small quite affair and while the Sony worked it felt loud and clunky. The a7ii used to be my goto Bayer camera and at my neices wedding I had planned on using that to cover the event. Why? Simply because there's just something nice about shooting the Sigma fp and the color of the images just seems more pleasing to me. While the Sony has many features enjoy like ibis, pdaf afc, evf, and articulated screen I don't really use it anymore. The closest camera I have to the 24mp fp is the Sony a7ii.
As I'm sure it will be similar in many ways. I've not had the pleasure of using one yet but I wanted to share my experience with the original fp.
